In 2021, I bought a bungalow with planning permission for an extension, but I had no idea in what order to proceed. My wife suffered a spinal injury from a riding accident which left her paralysed from the chest down. Our home, a converted chapel in the countryside, was no longer suitable. So, we purchased a two-storey townhouse that was in dire need of refurbishment with adaptations for a disabled person. The build involved removing virtually all internal walls and creating space with hard floors making everywhere accessible by wheelchair. Ramps, ceiling hoists, through-floor lift, kitchen with rise-and-fall surfaces and wet-room also needed to be installed. We handed the keys to Scott Olliver on the date we exchanged contracts.
